I swear, the popcorn I had brought from the nice, old lady tasted more popcorny? Well, as how corny popcorn would taste. The soda had an extra zip, and the corndogs didn't taste too oily or fatty at all. Everything was clear and sharp.

Going 'round the Merry-Go seemed more magical too. It is just you, the wooden horse, and the enchanting music that seems less annoying in the night than during the day.

People have that soft smile on their faces, a testament to their long day. You'd know fatigue when you see it, but here you find a bit of peace and relaxation. That in itself, is as mystical as it can be.

Most people will not make any money online but however there are others who will make more in one week than most people make in a whole year. Why is that?

My answer begins with the age-old chicken or egg question, "what comes first the chicken or the egg"? Personally I vote for, well never mind, each argument you or I make comes back to the same old conclusion - I have no clue and I don't think many of us do either.

Lean Manufacturing Definition: Lean manufacturing or lean production, which is often known simply as "Lean", is a production practice that considers the expenditure of resources for any goal other than the creation of value for the end customer to be wasteful, and thus a target for elimination. In a more basic term, More value with less work. Lean manufacturing is a generic process management philosophy derived mostly from the Toyota Production System (TPS) (hence the term Toyotism is also prevalent) and identified as "Lean" only in the 1990s[1]. It is renowned for its focus on reduction of the original Toyota seven wastes in order to improve overall customer value, but there are varying perspectives on how this is best achieved. The steady growth of Toyota, from a small company to the world's largest automaker,[2] has focused attention on how it has achieved this.

Lean manufacturing is a variation on the theme of efficiency; it is a present-day instance of the larger recurring theme in human life of increasing efficiency, decreasing waste, and using empirical methods to decide what matters, rather than uncritically accepting pre-existing ideas of what matters. Thus it is a chapter in the larger narrative that also includes, for example, the folk wisdom of thrift, time and motion study, Taylorism, the Efficiency Movement, and Fordism. Lean manufacturing is often seen, with the benefit of hindsight, as a progression from, or a better attempt at the same goal of, earlier efficiency efforts"that is, picking up where earlier leaders like Taylor or Ford left off, and learning from their mistakes.

Lean Manufacturing focuses on two main points, reduction of through-put time and elimination of waste. Through-put can be described as the time it takes an order to be received until it is on the shipping dock. Elimination of waste can be seen in several different areas. The Seven Wastes are: 1) Motion; any wasted motion to pick up or stack, walk and/or lack of direction or access, 2) Over-production; labor needed to process more than is needed, 3) Transport; multiple locations for the same information and/or wasted effort to transport work, 4) Inventory; maintaining excess inventory of raw materials, work in process, and/or finished goods, along with outdated or obsolete information, 5) Processing; doing more work than is necessary, 6) Waiting; any non-work time, and 7) Defects; everything required to repair or rework form.

For Spokane Industries Steel Foundry Division, lean manufacturing is the single most effective strategy that will allow us to improve our quality while reducing our overall costs. In this commitment to Lean, we started with 6S, an acronym for: Safety, Sort, Simplify, Shine, Standardize and Sustain.

Beginning with 6S practices made sense for a number of reasons. It was obvious the old way of approaching business practices was outdated. Our production levels had plateaued and there was obvious waste all around us, but the culture of the employees was not such that change would happen on its own. Doing it the same way for years, our veteran workforce wasn't about to change because in their view the system wasnt broken. 6S provided the visible change we needed to help jumpstart a revamped culture throughout the foundry.

We began implementing 6S by breaking the foundry down into ten sections. In each section we did an introduction class on Lean Manufacturing and 6S, basically subscribing to a train-do model. Within a week of the class, each member would actively participate in a kaizen event. In some cases we did the same section multiple times in order to achieve the desired results. All of the foundry employees took part in at least one event.

An additional step of our Lean journey was initiated with the understanding of Autonomous Maintenance. Autonomous maintenance is the initial standard in Total Productive Maintenance or TPM. TPM is a proactive approach that essentially looks to reduce catastrophic failures and inventory (spare parts) by preventative measures.

As we proceed, we will continue our 6S and autonomous maintenance efforts while we perform Value Stream Mapping (VSM) of our processes. VSM is the series of processes that directly create value for the external customer by efficiently streamlining our work flows. We will do this to identify safety concerns, waste, bottlenecks, and communication breakdowns.

1. Your article titles are critical. Without a good title, nobody will even consider running an article on their site.

2. Do not write too formally or you will risk sounding stilted. But, avoid slang, especially if the nature of your website is such that you need to be taken seriously.

3. Respect your readers' time. Be clear and concise.

4. Do not limit yourself to writing articles on the subject(s) of the websites(s) you are trying to promote. If you do, there are article directories and websites on which you will never be published.

5. Craft your author's box copy carefully. Be certain that your website links are embedded in your best keywords. Most of my sites are on higher education, so my links are embedded in terms like "online degrees", "online colleges", "scholarships" and other terms for which I would like my sites to rank well.

6. Never submit a first draft. Do at least one second draft, even if you only find a few phrases you can improve. Then, proofread very carefully.

Termite identification takes more than simply knowing the different members of the termite colony. There are a couple other things that every homeowner should know about if they are to protect their homes effectively against termites.

The Truth About Termites

Most people associate termite's look with only one class of termite: the worker termites. These are the termites that do all the food foraging and are creamy white in color. The truth though is that termites usually avoid the light and the open air.

Termites simply prefer to burrow deep in the soil and move to edible parts of your house through mud tunnels. This means that the damage to your property may also be undetected until there is already too much damage. Some homeowners do not know they have termites until damaged wood breaks off to reveal the white workers. The key to early termite identification is to look for tell tale signs of their presence.

Swarmer Termite Identification

The role of swarmer termites is usually to fly off and build new termite communities. Early termite identification therefore begins by looking for flying winged insects of a dark color, with straight bodies and four equal length wings that they might discard around your property.. These swarmers may fly to or away from your house.

Swarmer termites usually appear during the beginning of spring or right after a rainfall. Although some may say that some swarmers simply get blown accidentally to your house, they might just establish a colony if the conditions are right.

Termite Identification Through Mud Tunnels

Mud tubes and tunnels are often a good aid for termite identification. Since worker termites try to avoid open spaces and day light, they usually move from their underground colony home to your house through mud tunnels. You should therefore be a little worried if you notice some seemingly dried mud that seem to rise up from the soil and stick on cracks or boards. When prodded, these tunnels may come off as grainy particles on your fingers. Some conditions are just so perfect for termites that they may even build mud mounds somewhere in your property.

Termite Identification Through Damage

If you've been unlucky enough not to have been able to detect the presence of termites at an early time, you may already have some damaged wood. Some signs of termite damage would be holes on the surface of the wood, paint cracks or wood that sounds hollow. Extensive termite damage may result in wood surface that easily breaks off when you prod it, revealing irregular sized hollow areas inside that may have traces of grainy mud.

Favorable Conditions

Conditions that favor the growth of a colony are not necessarily an aid in termite identification. Favorable conditions however may tell you that you may attract potential colonists. You may for example have moist soil with wood contact on the ground. Ground termites love moist soil and the proximity of the wood to the soil may make their food harvesting work easier. Pipes that leak on wooden trash around the house and foundation cracks may also encourage termite infestation. - 15254
