How Do I Recruit Candidates Before My Competition?

By Cade Krueger

It is so important for you to set up your recruiting system properly whether you are a external head hunter or a manager setting up your recruiting department. It is important you do everything you can to get to candidates and retain them well as they go through their job decision process.

The sad truth is that if it take a couple weeks to get to a candidate then you are either getting to them to late or they are not an ideal candidate. You have to become a master with the phone and internet when it comes to networking candidates.

Understand that a candidate will look at opportunities first before going to any trusted sources to peek into other situations to see what is going on. They want to understand what options they have out there before they go to a recruiter or a trusted work peer they have interaction with.

They are not willing to leave their job, but they are losing interest in their current position and realizing they are not happy with their future. They are looking for jobs that will stretch them with exciting work and innovative projects.

A candidate will be willing to get paid less in order to find some job that provides them with joy and a feeling of worth in their life that they are currently missing. It has to fit their long term or at least short term goals in life.

If you are filling a job for a specific location then find out exactly what the ideal candidate will be looking for. Ask candidates questions that will help lead them to the understanding of what this job can do for them.

Look for ways to leverage with SEM and SEO to get your brand out there faster with more eyes able to see it. I suggest that you go toward EnticeLabs and TalentSeekr if you want to focus on SEM and Jobs2Web if you are targeting SEO.

As you find these candidates you need to use a solid recruiting CRM to organize and continue to nurture these candidates. iCIMS is a solid CRM that you can use to keep going at your candidates to show you are valued asset. - 15254
